Troop 695 Merit Badge Procedures

  1. Scout determines the Merit Badge that he would like to work on.
  2. Scout calls Scoutmaster for approval and Blue Card.
  3. Scout obtains and reads the Merit Badge Book.  He does the required work.
  4. When work is completed and signed by the Merit Badge Counselor, the remaining two parts of the Blue Card is turned into the Advancement Chair. (mail or personally deliver)
  5. The Advancement chair records the advancement, reports to the Council and purchases the badge.
  6. Merit badges and certificates and Applicant’s copy of Blue Card will be presented at the next Court of Honor.

 

Troop 695 Service Hours Procedures

  1. Scout determines the community service that he would like to work on.
  2. Scout calls Scoutmaster for approval of community service that he wants to do before the service date.
  3. When work is completed make sure to get letter or documents for the organization showing the service provided (must indicate service organization, what was done, date of the service and number of service hours), the letter or document should be turned into the Advancement Chair (mail or personally deliver)
  4. The Advancement chair records the advancement

 

 Troop 695 Guideline for Advancement

  1. Complete participation requirement form as necessary (advancing to Tenderfoot, 2nd Class, 1st Class, Star, Life and Eagle ranks).
  2. Call Scoutmaster for conference. (When Scout passes the Scoutmaster Conference, he calls the designated Board of Review Coordinator to set up a Board of Review)
  3. Board of Review. (Scoutmaster and family of scout will be notified if scout does not pass his Board of Review.  Scout schedules another Scoutmaster Conference and another Board of Review.)
  4. After passing Board of Review, provide advancement chair with copy of advancement page for BSA handbook.  MAKE AN EXTRA COPY OF THE ADVANCEMENT RECORD FOR YOURSELF!  You may mail or attach to email the copy of the page to the advancement chair.   Be sure to write your name on the page before mailing.
  5. Advancement chair records advancements, makes council report, and purchases badge.
  6. Rank Advancement patches are given to scoutmaster for presentation at next troop meeting or COH.
  7. Scout must sew the rank patch of the appropriate pocket of his uniform.
