The March 15-16 backpacking trip will be for all Scouts and is also a designated Philmont Crew Training Hike. We will plan on taking the Catalina Flyer out of Newport at 9am on Saturday to Avalon. We will then make the 8 mile hike to the highest point on the Island (Mt. Orziba 2,097') and camp at Blackjack Camp at 1600'. We return to Avalon on Sunday in time for the Scouts to explore the town and make the 4:00pm flyer back home to Newport Landing. (http://www.visitcatalinaisland.com/avalon/camp_blackjack.php)
